Ed and Basil are on a mission. Edward recently found out his step-sister moved to town, a step-sister he has never met, and who may not even know he exists. He grew up with none of that, raised by an aging father in a sectarian circle, abandoned by a mother who left a hole she never bothered to explain. The need to find her isn't obsessive, it's just there, quiet and persistent, the kind of thing you can't unfeel once you know. Basil, being Basil, went straight to the computer. He got into her parabook, found a way to reach out, and they've been trying ever since. She hasn't responded. So now they're working their way through her friends list, which is a perfectly normal thing to do. Ed isn't trying to force his way into her life, he just wants a door to knock on, and if that door happens to be near her workplace one afternoon then so be it. Whether she opens it is entirely up to her. In the meantime, Basil's family has already made Ed one of their own without a second thought, the kind of warmth he didn't grow up with and is still learning to receive. He's finding his family one way or another. He just hopes Delilah might be part of it.
