Raine and Cassia Hawke had been carrying big dreams in their hearts since childhood. Raine, the older sister and now a young adult, and Cassia, still a teenager, grew up believing that art was not just something you added to life. For them, it was a way of breathing, telling stories about the world, and finding their own place within it.
They had always dreamed of leaving one day, of going somewhere far from familiar streets, responsibilities, and everyday noise. Not to a huge city promising success at the cost of constant hurry, but to a charming, smaller place. Somewhere quieter. Somewhere they could sit by the window with a notebook, watch people pass through the town square, listen to conversations in a little café, and draw inspiration from the rhythm of small-town life.
Raine always believed that she would find it easier to create in a place like that. Cassia, with her usual mix of impatience and wonder, was convinced that such a change would be the beginning of something big. Maybe a career. Maybe an adventure. Or maybe simply a life that finally felt like their own.
Wyatt Laxiuson, Raine’s partner and a passionate fourth-generation cook, became part of that plan. Cooking runs in his blood, although he would probably say it lives more in his hands, his muscle memory, and his complete inability to ignore a badly seasoned sauce. Wyatt has spent years investing in his career, but when Raine decided to fight for her dreams, he chose to put everything on the line and leave with her.
It was not only about love, though there was plenty of that. It was also about believing that sometimes you have to take a risk before you get too comfortable in a life that does not fully feel like yours.
Wyatt is also very close to Cassia. He treats her partly like a younger sister, partly like a culinary apprentice, and sometimes like someone who has far too many opinions for a person who can still burn the simplest things. He is trying to teach her how to cook, mostly because he has already accepted that Raine is a hopeless case. Raine has many talents, but the kitchen has clearly decided not to be one of them.
Wyatt jokes that in this new life, he will be the one working seven days a week, and once the girls finally make it in their big little world, he will retire with dignity. He only hopes it will be early retirement.
Now the three of them are starting over. Raine wants to create more boldly. Cassia wants to discover who she can become when no one is telling her in advance where she belongs. Wyatt wants to cook, grow, and make sure nobody in the house survives solely on coffee, inspiration, and the dramatic belief that artists do not need proper meals.
Will the charm of small-town life turn out to be exactly what the Hawke sisters needed? Will Raine and Cassia find their artistic voices before they begin to doubt their dreams? Will Wyatt manage to build a culinary future in a place that is only just becoming their home?
And most importantly, will Cassia learn to cook faster than Raine destroys another frying pan?
Only time will tell.
